Ohio Wesleyan 4, Ohio Northern 0 (3/24/2002) Senior outfielder Shaun Rice (Dublin/Columbus Watterson) and senior first baseman Drew Caravella (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) slammed solo homers and 4 pitchers combined on a 2-hit shutout as the Bishops defeated Ohio Northern in non-conference action on Sunday at Littick Field. Rice's homer in the fourth broke a scoreless tie, and the Bishops added a run in the fifth on an RBI single by junior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby) that scored junior shortstop Shaun Burchett (Plain City/Jonathan Alder). Caravella's homer in the seventh hiked the lead to 3-0 and the Bishops wrapped up the scoring later in the seventh when Rice singled, stole second and scored on a hit by junior designated hitter Bo Burnett (Powell/Olentangy). The Polar Bears were held hitless until the seventh, when Jake Deehr's flare into rightfield fell between 3 Bishops. Sophomore lefthander Michael Myers (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) worked the first 3.0 innings, striking out 2 and walking 2. Senior righthander Curt Moenter (Delphos/St. John) allowed 1 hit over the next 4.0 innings, fanning 4, and was credited with the win to raise his record to 5-0. Senior lefthander Matt Farmwald (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) and sophomore righthander Andy Busch (Westerville/South) each worked a scoreless inning. Back
