Ohio Dominican 6, Ohio Wesleyan 5 (3/28/2002) Brian Edwards singled home Patrick Ranalli with 2 out in the bottom of the ninth to lift Ohio Dominican to a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday in Columbus. With 2 out in the bottom of the ninth, Ranalli reached second when junior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby) dropped his fly ball for an error. Edwards followed with a drive that deflected off junior righthander Shaun Burchett (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) and into short right field to score the game-winning run. The Bishops had scored a run in the seventh and 2 in the eighth to wipe out a 5-2 deficit. Junior outfielder Travis Falk (Bryan) belted a solo homer in the seventh and sophomore third baseman Tyler Mott (Grove City) lofted a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the eighth. Mott and senior outfielder Michael Hershberger (Massillon/Canton Central Catholic) had RBIs in the fourth as the Bishops erased a 2-0 deficit. Ohio Dominican had taken a 2-0 lead in the third on a Ranalli single, an Edwards double, a passed ball and an RBI single by George Bush. The Panthers pushed across 3 in the bottom of the fifth on RBI singles by Wilfredo Colon, Derrick Wright and Christian Pantoja. Sophomore lefthander Michael Myers (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) worked the first 4.2 innings. Burchett came on in the fifth and allowed only 2 hits the rest of the way, but was charged with the loss.
