Ohio Wesleyan 15, Otterbein 6 (4/11/2002) Senior first baseman Drew Caravella (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) and junior third baseman Mark Wherry (Dublin/Scioto) each drove in 2 runs to highlight a 12-run second-inning uprising that sent the Bishops on the way to a non-conference win over Otterbein on Thursday at Littick Field. Trailing, 1-0, after the Cardinals posted an unearned run in the top of the second, the Bishops responded with their biggest inning of the season. Junior catcher Bo Burnett (Powell/Olentangy) singled up the middle and sophomore third baseman Tyler Mott (Grove City) walked. Junior third baseman Mark Wherry (Dublin/Scioto) followed with a single to left that scored Burnett to tie the game, and Mott and Wherry advanced a base on Cardinal leftfielder Tory Allen's fielding error. The Cardinals brought the infield in and prevented the go-ahead run from scoring on a bouncer to shortstop by junior shortstop Joe Deck (Waverly), but Ohio Wesleyan took the lead when junior second baseman Matt Fortuna (Strongsville/St. Edward) singled to right. Senior outfielder Shaun Rice (Dublin/Columbus Watterson) followed with another run-scoring single and the Bishops loaded the bases on a fielder's choice when Rice beat the throw to second on a grounder off the bat of junior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby). Two runs scored when Cardinal shortstop Adam Reed committed an error on a grounder by sophomore second baseman Mike Albert (Shelby), setting up a 2-run double by Caravella. Mott, Wherry and Fortuna drove in runs later in the frame and the final run scored when Deck crossed home plate on a passed ball. Albert, Wherry, Fortuna and junior shortstop Seth Tenpenny (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne) each had 2 hits for the Bishops. Senior righthander Curt Moenter (Delphos/St. John) was credited with the mound decision. Back
