Wittenberg 14, Ohio Wesleyan 5 (4/27/2002) Wittenberg erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth to break open the opener of a North Coast Athletic Conference West Division doubleheader on Saturday in Springfield. The nightcap was suspended with the score tied at 6-6 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. The game will be resumed before the teams' regularly-scheduled game on Sunday. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead on Brandon Godzik's RBI single in the second, but Ohio Wesleyan came back with 4 runs in the third to take the lead. Sophomore third baseman Tyler Mott (Grove City) plated junior outfielder Travis Falk (Bryan) with a bases-loaded fielder's choice to tie the game. Senior first baseman Drew Caravella (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) followed with an RBI single and 2 runs then scored on an error by Tiger second baseman Karl Friedhoff. Wittenberg then broke the game open with its 10-run fourth. Matt Foster had a pair of RBI singles during the inning and Trent West added a 2-run double. The Tigers also took advantage of 3 bases-loaded walks during the frame. Caravella wrapped up the day's scoring with an RBI double in the seventh. Senior righthander Curt Moenter (Delphos/St. John) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan. He worked the first 3.1 innings, allowing 6 runs and striking out 2 while walking 1. Back
