Ohio Wesleyan 73, Kenyon 53 (1/5/2002)

Junior guard Jason Dopoulos (Strongsville) hit consecutive baskets as Ohio Wesleyan took charge late in the first half and went on to top Kenyon in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Gambier.

Ohio Wesleyan led, 24-19, late in the first half after Kenyon's Chad Plotke sank a 3-pointer, but Dopoulos responded with a basket and a 3-pointer and sophomore center Charlie Smith (Centerburg) followed with a bucket to hike the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 12 points.

Kenyon scored the final bucket of the first half to close to within 10 points at halftime, but the Lords were only able to come closer than that once in the second half, that coming on Alex Neuman's lay-in that made the score 36-27 with 17:13 left in the game. But Dopoulos hit a 3-pointer to hike the lead back to 12 points and Kenyon did not come within 10 points again.

Dopoulos led the balanced Bishop offense with 14 points, freshman forward Seth Rhea (Delaware/Hayes) added 13 points, sophomore center Travis Schwab (Medina) scored 12 points and freshman forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) contributed 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Shawn Kindred (Delaware/Hayes) led the Bishops with 6 assists.

Plotke led Kenyon with 17 points and Neuman finished with 16 points.
