Ohio Wesleyan 70, Allegheny 63 (1/19/2002) Sophomore center Travis Schwab (Medina) scored 5 points during an early 11-0 run and Ohio Wesleyan went on to defeat Allegheny in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Meadville, Pa. Allegheny jumped to an early 10-2 lead, thanks in part to 5 points by Ryan Meerstein, but Ohio Wesleyan stormed back with buckets by Schwab, freshman forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) and junior guard Aaron Levering (Cardington) before a Schwab 3-pointer gave the Bishops an 11-10 lead. Sophomore center Charlie Smith (Centerburg) followed with a bucket off a Schwab assist for a 13-10 Ohio Wesleyan lead. The Bishops went on to take a 32-22 lead late in the first period, but Allegheny clawed back and scored the final 7 points of the half, then closed to within 1 point when Damon Clayton scored the first basket of the second half to bring the Gators within 32-31. But sophomore guard Shawn Kindred (Delaware/Hayes) drilled a 3-pointer to end the Gator rally, and Schwab followed with back-to-back hoops to build the Bishop lead to 39-31. Allegheny came back to within 3 points midway through the second half, but that was as close as the Gators would get. Schwab led the Bishops with 22 points and 3 assists, while Kindred and Rhea finished with 11 points apiece. Cole scored 10 points, grabbed a team-high 16 rebounds and shared the team lead with 3 assists. Meerstein and Nick Catanzarite led the Tigers with 14 points apiece, while Billy Dungee had 11 points for Allegheny. Back
