Ohio Wesleyan 83, Earlham 57 (1/26/2002) Sophomore center Travis Schwab (Medina) scored 6 points and junior guard Jason Dopoulos (Strongsville) added 5 during a 21-2 run that broke open a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Earlham on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena. The Bishops had taken a 10-3 lead on a 3-pointer by freshman forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) that bounced high off the rim and fell through, but Earlham came right back with a 3-pointer by Nathan Stoops to make the score 10-6 with 16:07 left in the first half. Earlham would score only one basket in the next 8:58 of play, that coming on a lay-in by Brady Keaton. Cole started the Bishop run with a putback and added a tip-in less than a minute later. Sophomore guard Shawn Kindred (Delaware/Hayes) contributed 4 points and sophomore center Charlie Smith (Centerburg) also scored a bucket during the spurt, which concluded with a Schwab layup that made the score 31-8 with 7:30 left in the first half. The Quakers scored the next 7 points on another Stoops 3-pointer and baskets by Ricky Jones and Sean O'Reilley, but they would come no closer than that 16-point deficit. Ohio Wesleyan led by as many as 31 points during the second half. Earlham assembled a late outburst, outscoring the Bishops 17-5 during a span of just over 5 minutes down the stretch, but that would not be enough. Schwab led the Bishops with 29 points, hitting 11 of 14 shots from the field. Dopoulos finished with 14 points and Kindred scored 12 points and led the Bishops with 5 assists. Cole led the Bishops with 7 rebounds. Stoops led Earlham with 17 points, followed by O'Reilley with 11 and Larry Hart and Keaton with 10 apiece. Back
