Ohio Wesleyan 88, Hendrix 66 (11/23/2001) Sophomore center Charlie Smith (Centerburg) scored a team-high 17 points and sophomore center Travis Schwab (Medina) added 16 points and a team-leading 9 rebounds as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Hendrix (Ark.) in the first round of the Rhodes College Classic on Friday in Memphis, Tenn. Ohio Wesleyan will play Rhodes on Saturday afternoon. Maryville (Mo.) defeated Rhodes, 83-80, in the other first-round game. The Bishops jumped to a 49-24 halftime lead as Hendrix shot 24.5 percent from the field during the first 20 minutes of play. Meanwhile, the Bishops were lighting up the nets at a 54.3 percent clip, hitting 19 of 35 shots from the field. Ohio Wesleyan improved on that marksmanship in the second half, connecting on 18 of 28 field goal attempts (64.3 percent). Sophomore guard Shawn Kindred (Delaware/Hayes) added 15 points and junior guard Jason Dopoulos (Strongsville) scored 13 for Ohio Wesleyan. Dopoulos, Smith and freshman forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) shared the team lead with 3 assists apiece. Reggie Talley led Hendrix with 13 points. Back
