Wooster 73, Ohio Wesleyan 63 (12/5/2001) Sophomore center Travis Schwab (Medina) hit a lay-up to give the Bishops a 63-62 lead with 3:49 left in regulation time, but Wooster held Ohio Wesleyan scoreless for the remainder of the game to take a North Coast Athletic Conference win on Wednesday in Wooster. Wooster streaked to an early 11-3 lead less than 5 minutes into the game, but the Bishops came back on 3-pointers by freshman forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) and sophomore guard Shawn Kindred (Delaware/Hayes), the latter cutting the deficit to 13-12 with 12:33 left in the half. The Fighting Scots scored the next 7 points to reclaim their 8-point lead, and still held a lead of 30-22 with less than 4 minutes left in the first half before Ohio Wesleyan charged back again. Junior guard Aaron Levering (Cardington) and Cole drilled 3-pointers, sophomore center Charlie Smith (Centerburg) hit a basket and Kindred sank 1-of-2 free throws with 1:01 left to bring the Bishops within 32-31 at halftime. Ohio Wesleyan took its biggest lead at 55-50 with 8:08 to play, but Wooster came right back with 3-pointers by Blake Mealer and Rodney Mitchell. The Scots extended the lead to 62-59, but the Bishops came back with a pair of Smith free throws and Schwab's lay-in with 3:49 to play. Antwyan Reynolds put Wooster ahead to stay with a pair of free throws with 3:29 left, and the Scots moved ahead on Randy Sistrunk's follow shot after Schwab got back on defense to block a fast break lay-in by Reynolds. Cole shared the team lead with 14 points and posted team bests of 14 rebounds and 5 assists, while Schwab also scored 14 points and added 7 rebounds. Kindred contributed 12 points and 4 assists and Smith scored 10 points. Mitchell and Sistrunk led Wooster with 12 points apiece, while Bryan Nelson and Brian Carlisle each had 10 points. Back
