Ohio Wesleyan 5, Calvin 0 (8/31/2001) Senior midfielders Ryan Miller (Delaware/Hayes) and Phil Miller (Newcastle, England) combined on a pair of first-half goals to start the Bishop men's soccer team on its way to a 5-0 win over Calvin in the first round of the Fred Myers Invitational on Friday at Roy Rike Field. John Carroll defeated Allegheny, 3-0, in the evening's first game behind 2 goals from sophomore forward Chris Heslep. Ohio Wesleyan and John Carroll will meet in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, to be preceded by Allegheny and Calvin at 5 p.m. Ryan Miller converted on Phil Miller's pass across the box to put the Bishops on the scoreboard less than 8 minutes into the game. Ryan Miller then headed in a Phil Miller corner kick with 7:54 left in the first half. Ryan Miller completed a hat trick with a goal off a free kick early in the second half. Sophomore forward Brett Dunlap (West Chester/Lakota West) had a hand in the Bishops' final 2 goals, taking a lead pass from freshman forward Ryan Martin (Dublin/Wellington) and scoring with 10:25 left in regulation, then serving a cross to sophomore forward Chris Jack (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), who scored in the final seconds of play for the 5-0 final. Sophomores Adam Roberts (Worthington/Wellington) and Joe Anstine (Westerville/South) each made 1 save in a half of action in the Bishop goal. Ohio Wesleyan outshot Calvin, 26-4.
