Ohio Wesleyan 73, Wooster 56 (1/5/2002)

Freshman wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) scored 10 points to fuel a 25-8 game-opening run and Ohio Wesleyan went on to defeat Wooster in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Wooster.

Junior post Mindy Hammond (Columbus/DeSales) added 7 points and senior post Katy Sturtz (Worthington/Columbus Watterson) had 6 points during the run, which came in the first 10 minutes of play.

Wooster rallied in the second half, closing to within 7 points on Kirsten Lucas' jumper with 11:08 to play, but Heil drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to dampen the Fighting Scots' comeback hopes.

Hammond led the Bishops with 18 points, Sturtz followed with 17 points and a team-high 12 rebounds and Heil finished with 16 points. Senior guard Michelle Wolfe (Gahanna/Lincoln) led the Bishops with 6 assists.

Nara DeJesus led Wooster with 13 points and Alexis Louttit and Jen Flavin scored 10 points apiece.
