Ohio Wesleyan 59, Allegheny 53 (1/12/2002) Freshman wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) hit 2 baskets down the stretch as Ohio Wesleyan held off an Allegheny rally in taking a North Coast Athletic Conference win on Saturday at Meadville, Pa. The Bishops took the lead for good midway through the second half when senior post Katy Sturtz (Worthington/Columbus Watterson) scored to break a 33-33 tie with 11:23 remaining. Ohio Wesleyan built the lead to 7 points, that coming on a Heil 3-pointer that made it 48-41 with 6:01 to play. The Bishops still led, 55-49, on Heil's 3-pointer with 2:31 remaining, but the Gators came back with scores by Alyssa Hinkle and Jamie Parone to close to within 55-53 before Heil's bucket with 1:11 left in regulation hiked the lead to 4 points. Sturtz scored in the closing seconds of the game to account for the final margin. Junior post Mindy Hammond (Columbus/DeSales) led the Bishops with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Heil finished with 12 points and Sturtz contributed 10 points and 7 boards. Jessica Kankoski led Allegheny with a career-high 28 points and Parone added 10 points. Back
