Hope 77, Ohio Wesleyan 47 (11/16/2001) Hope College used a 19-2 first-half run to take command and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in first-round play of the Hope Tip-Off Tournament on Friday in Holland, Mich. Ohio Wesleyan will play Wheaton (Ill.) in Saturday's second round. Wheaton dropped a 51-38 decision to Aurora (Ill.) in Friday's other first-round game. Senior guard Elizabeth Edinger (Toledo/Whitmer) sank a pair of free throws to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 10-8 with 12:46 left in the first half, but Hope answered with 14 straight points, 8 of those by Amanda Kerkstra. The Flying Dutch also got a pair of baskets by Becky Sutton during the run. Hope led 36-16 at halftime and by as many as 39 points in the second half. Ohio Wesleyan shot 26 percent from the field in the first half and improved to 39 percent in the second half. Freshman wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) led the Bishops with 11 points and 9 rebounds, while sophomore wing Becky Roeder (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) added 8 points and 8 boards. Heil, Edinger and senior guard Talia Brader (Westerville/Columbus DeSales) shared the team lead with 2 assists apiece. Back
