Thomas More 68, Ohio Wesleyan 66 (11/28/2001)

Holly Roberts' 3-point play with :04 to play lifted Thomas More over Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Wednesday at Crestview Hills, Ky.

Ohio Wesleyan had taken a 66-63 lead with :34 remaining on a jumper by freshman wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview). Thomas More answered with a lay-in by Bridget New to pull within 66-65 with :15 left.

The Saints then fouled senior post Katy Sturtz (Worthington/Columbus Watterson), but Sturtz missed the front end of the one-and-one and Thomas More cleared the rebound, setting up the game-winning 3-point play by Roberts.

Heil's 25-foot try with :01 to play was no good.

Both teams led during a back-and-forth first half in which the biggest lead was 6 points. Ohio Wesleyan took a 36-30 halftime lead and led by as many as 12 points in the second half before the Saints came back to tie the game at 57-57 with 7:12 remaining.

Sturtz then converted a 3-point play and followed with another lay-in as the Bishops scored the next 5 points and would not trail again until the closing seconds.

Sturtz led the Bishops with 24 points and 19 rebounds, while senior guard Michelle Wolfe (Gahanna/Lincoln) added 10 points and dished out a team-high 5 assists.

Roberts led Thomas More with 23 points, with 18 of those coming in the second half.
