Ohio Wesleyan 92, Hiram 58 (12/8/2001)

Senior guard Michelle Wolfe (Gahanna/Lincoln) drilled a 3-pointer to break an 8-8 tie and put the Bishops ahead to stay and Ohio Wesleyan set a school record in defeating Hiram in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday at Hiram.

Wolfe's 3-ball started a 16-4 burst that included 6 points from senior post Katy Sturtz (Worthington/Columbus Watterson) and a 3-pointer by senior guard Talia Brader (Westerville/Columbus DeSales).

Hiram closed to within 8 points at 26-18 with 9:48 left in the half, but Ohio Wesleyan outscored the Terriers, 34-13, over the rest of the period.

A 3-pointer by junior post Mindy Hammond (Columbus/DeSales) at the first-half buzzer not only gave the Bishops a 60-31 halftime lead but broke a school record. The 60 points scored in the first half by the Bishops was the most in school history, edging the previous mark of 59 set at Oberlin in 1995.

The Bishops led by as many as 40 points during the second half.

Wolfe led the Bishops with 22 points, with 20 of those coming in the first half, and grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds. Sturtz finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds, Hammong had 13 points and 6 rebounds and led the Bishops with 5 assists, and Brader ended up with 10 points.

Terra Roane led Hiram with 12 points, while Jamie Hanson and Gena Rose each scored 10 points.
