Junior first baseman Tyler Mott (Grove City) slammed a 3-run homer in the first inning and fired a 3-hitter to lead the Bishops past Tiffin in the opener of a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday in Tiffin.

In the nightcap, senior first baseman Bo Burnett (Powell/Olentangy) clubbed a 3-run double to put the Bishops ahead during a 4-run seventh inning as Ohio Wesleyan overcame a 6-2 deficit to complete the sweep.

Mott's 3-run homer and a solo shot by junior catcher Mike Schultheis (Columbus/Watterson) helped Ohio Wesleyan take a 6-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the opener. Senior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby) added a solo homer in the sixth inning. Loudenslager, Mott and senior shortstop Joe Deck (Waverly) each had 2 hits for Ohio Wesleyan.

The Dragons scored 3 runs in the first inning of the nightcap. Ohio Wesleyan closed to within 3-1 on a solo homer by senior second baseman Seth Tenpenny (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne) in the third, but Tiffin got the run back in the bottom of the inning and added 2 more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Ohio Wesleyan sliced the deficit to 6-4 in the sixth when junior second baseman Brad Whitman (Canfield) and Loudenslager led off with singles and Burnett reached on an error to load the bases. Schultheis plated one run with a sacrifice fly and Deck followed with an RBI single.

In the seventh, senior outfielder Travis Falk (Bryan) and Whitman opened the inning with walks and Loudenslager was hit by a pitch to load the bases, which Burnett promptly emptied with a long double. Schultheis followed with a triple to score Burnett.

Junior lefthander Mike Grady (North Canton/Hoover), who relieved in the sixth inning, was credited with the win.
