Junior righthander Tyler Mott (Grove City) and freshman righthander Michael Krieger (Boardman) recorded complete-game wins as Ohio Wesleyan swept Denison in a North Coast Athletic Conference West Division doubleheader on Saturday at Littick Field.

Mott staked the Bishops to a 1-0 in the first inning of the opener with an RBI single, scoring junior second baseman Brad Whitman (Canfield), but Denison tied the game in the second on Alex Nicolich's double and Matt Fadely's single.

Mott scored the go-ahead run in the third, lining a 2-out single and coming all the way around on a double by junior catcher Mike Schultheis (Columbus/Watterson).

The Bishops added 2 runs in the sixth as Schultheis doubled, stole third and continued home on a Big Red error. Senior third baseman Mark Wherry (Dublin/Scioto) followed with a walk, took second on a ground out, moved to third on an error and scored on a single by senior outfielder Travis Falk (Bryan).

Mott scattered 9 hits while striking out 4 and walking none. He outdueled Denison pitcher Cam Cowden, who allowed 7 hits and 2 earned runs.

In the nightcap, Denison's Brian Regan led off with a homer and Todd Pitt followed with a single, but Krieger was masterful after that, holding Denison to just one hit during the rest of the game. Krieger allowed only 2 baserunners after the first inning and retired the final 13 batters he faced.

Ohio Wesleyan took the lead on the third as Whitman and senior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby) came around to score on a double by senior designated hitter Bo Burnett (Powell/Olentangy).

The Bishops added an insurance run in the fifth when Loudenslager doubled, moved to third on a Denison error and scored on Mott's ground out.

Krieger finished with a 3-hitter and struck out 4 and walked none.

Denison's Drew Shamrock allowed 5 hits, struck out 2 and walked 4 in working the complete game.
