Rob Shrawder hit 2 home runs to help power Ohio University to a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Saturday in Athens.

Shrawder hit a solo home run in the second and a 2-run shot in the fourth to account for the Bobcats' first 3 runs in the opener. Ohio University would eventually score 4 runs in the fourth and add 2 in the fifth and 3 in the sixth.

Senior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby) put the Bishops on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Loudenslager went 3-for-3 in the game to highlight the Bishop offense.

Freshman righthander Michael Krieger (Boardman) allowed 9 hits over the first 5.0 innings and was charged with the loss for Ohio Wesleyan. Freshman lefthander Josh Nice (Hinckley/Highland) pitched the sixth inning. Marc Cornell worked the first 5.0 innings to pick up the win for the Bobcats.

In the nightcap, the Bishops jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a 2-run triple by junior first baseman Tyler Mott (Grove City). Mott's blast scored senior outfielder Travis Falk (Bryan), who had drawn a 1-out walk, and Loudenslager, who had followed with a single.

The Bobcats tied the game in the second, stringing together 3 hits and a walk, and went ahead to stay with 4 runs in the third, with Jason Shockey's 2-run homer the key blow. Phil Sabatini and Dan Lunsford added solo homers later in the game for Ohio University.

Ohio Wesleyan closed to within 7-3 in the fifth when freshman third baseman Brandon Williams (Dublin/Coffman) reached an error and scored on a double by junior outfielder Mike Albert (Shelby). The Bishops added a run in the seventh as j
unior second baseman Brad Whitman (Canfield) doubled, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.

Senior righthander Shaun Burchett (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) pitched the first 6.0 innings for the Bishops, allowing 9 hits. Junior lefthander Mike Grady (North Canton/Hoover) pitched the seventh and the eighth. Walt Novosel pitched the first 5.0 innings to get the win for Ohio University, and Shaun Peet worked the final 4.0 innings to qualify for a save
