Senior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby) scored on a single by junior second baseman Brad Whitman (Canfield) as the Bishops tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning, but Ohio University took the lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference play on Sunday in Athens.

The Bobcats had taken a 1-0 lead on Phil Sabatini's leadoff homer in the first inning, but freshman righthander Adam Dunn (Westerville/Worthington Christian) got through the inning without any further damage. The Bobcats also touched Dunn for leadoff hits in the second and third innings, but he bounced back to retire 3 straight batters in both frames.

Ohio Wesleyan tied the game in the fourth when Loudenslager led off with an infield single, moved to third on a single to right by junior first baseman Tyler Mott (Grove City) and scored on Whitman's single up the middle. Junior catcher Mike Schultheis (Columbus/Watterson) then forced Whitman at second, leaving runners at first and third, and Mott was thrown out at home on the front end of a double steal.

Tony Gandee drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning and Dan Lunsford added a 2-run double later in the frame.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened in the sixth when Loudenslager belted a one-out double and Mott and Whitman followed with walks to load the bases, but Bobcat pitcher Rob Harmon induced Schultheis to bounce into an inning-ending double play.

Ohio added 2 runs in the sixth, with Lunsford and Adam Fox stroking RBI doubles, and finished the scoring with an unearned run in the eighth.

Dunn worked the first 5.1 innings, striking out 3 and walking 2, and was charged with the loss. Junior lefthander Mike Grady (North Canton/Hoover) pitched the final 2.2 innings and allowed one unearned run, struck out 3 and walked 1.

Harmon pitched the first 7.0 innings to pick up the win for Ohio.
