Heidelberg 11, Ohio Wesleyan 6

Senior outfielder Joe Loudenslager (Hilliard/Darby) and senior outfielder Travis Falk (Bryan) slammed solo home runs, but Heidelberg jumped to a 10-2 lead and held off an Ohio Wesleyan rally to take a non-conference win over the Bishops on Monday at Littick Field.

The Student Princes took the lead in the top of the first on an RBI grounder by Jimmy Williams and added another run when A.J. O'Neal was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The Bishops answered with Loudenslager's solo homer in the bottom of the inning, but Heidelberg topped that with solo shots by Shaun Galloway and Brock Gankosky in the top of the second.

Heidelberg added a run in the fifth on a bases-loaded single by Galloway that senior third baseman Mark Wherry (Dublin/Scioto) dove and knocked down but had no play to retire a runner, but the Bishops got that run back with Falk's solo homer in the bottom of the frame.

A.J. Schlea's 2-run homer highlighted a 3-run sixth inning for the Student Princes, and the visitors made it 10-2 in the seventh on an RBI single by Ryan Gelhaus, with Gelhaus later scoring on the front end of a double steal.

Ohio Wesleyan rallied with a run in the seventh as senior designated hitter Bo Burnett (Powell/Olentangy) plated Loudenslager with a ground out.

The Bishops came back with 3 more runs in the ninth, with Wherry delivering an RBI single and senior shortstop Seth Tenpenny (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne) adding a 2-run single.

Freshman righthander Adam Dunn (Westerville/Worthington Christian) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops. He worked the first 5.2 innings, allowing 10 hits.

Jeff Long was the starting and winning pitcher for Heidelberg.
