Kyle Rayl lined a 2-run single to highlight a 5-run first inning that started Anderson on its way to a win over Ohio Wesleyan in Game 6 of the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional on Saturday at Littick Field on the Ohio Wesleyan campus in Delaware, Ohio. Complete tournament results

Anderson and Ohio Wesleyan will play again at 1 p.m. on Sunday, with the winner of that game taking the regional title and advancing to the NCAA Division III championship tournament at Grand Chute, Wis.

The Ravens struck quickly in the first inning. Brent Hodges led off with a single and John Buckner and Troy Loyd followed with singles for a 1-0 Anderson lead. Buckner and Loyd moved to second and third on a passed ball and Buckner scored when Travis Davis reached on a throwing error by junior second baseman Brad Whitman (Canfield).

Ohio Wesleyan righthander Michael Krieger (Boardman) came back to retire Adam Bollier when his attempted bunt was popped up to junior catcher Mike Schultheis (Columbus/Watterson). Brandon Dillon followed with a single through the left side to score Buckner, then Duke Behr was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Junior lefthander Mike Grady (North Canton/Hoover) came on in relief of Krieger but was greeted by Rayl's single through the left side that plated Dillon and Davis for a 5-0 Anderson lead.

The Ravens made it 8-0 in the third, with Buckner and Travis Davis collecting RBI singles and Rayl scoring on a balk, and added another run in the fourth on Rayl's RBI single.

Anderson's John Louden was effective on the mound, holding Ohio Wesleyan hitless through the first 4.0 innings until Schultheis led off the fifth with a solid single to left center. Schultheis took third on Louden's wild pickoff throw and scored the first Bishop run on a single by senior shortstop Joe Deck (Waverly).

Ohio Wesleyan added a run in the seventh as Deck led off with a walk and senior second baseman Seth Tenpenny (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne) followed with a single. The runners moved up on a passed ball and Deck scored from third on a ground out by junior first baseman Tyler Mott (Grove City).

Deck led off the ninth with a single and eventually scored on Mott's RBI single for Ohio Wesleyan's final run.

Louden went the distance on the mound, scattering 6 hits and striking out 4 while walking 6.

Krieger was charged with the loss for Ohio Wesleyan.

Dillon and Rayl each had 3 hits for Anderson, with Rayl driving in 3 runs. Buckner, Loyd and Davis contributed 2 hits apiece, with Davis collecting 2 RBI.

Mott drove in 2 of the Bishops' 3 runs and Deck had 2 hits and scored twice.
