Wittenberg
5, Ohio Wesleyan 0
Sept. 28, 2002
Emily
Duh had a hand in all 5 Wittenberg goals, scoring 4 times and setting
up the fifth, to lead Wittenberg past Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic
Conference play on Saturday at the Henry Street Field.
Duh opened the scoring just over a minute into the game, knocking a pass
from Blair Ufer into the cage with 33:53 left in the first half. That
was it for the Tigers in the first half, as the Bishop defense tightened
and sophomore goalkeeper Liz Stone (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional)
recorded 3 saves.
Ufer and Duh connected quickly again in the second half, with Ufer sending
the ball toward the left post and Duh tapping it into the cage with 33:13
left in regulation time. Duh made it 3-0 by connecting on a shot from
about 10 yards with 18:54 left in regulation time.
The Tigers made it 4-0 when Rebecca Russ sent the ball to Duh near the
left post. Duh sent the ball across the front of the cage and Sarah Wallace
tipped it in with 8:22 left in the game. Duh wrapped up the scoring with
another tip-in of a Ufer pass with 2:22 left on the clock.
Wittenberg outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 26-5. Stone finished with 8 saves and
Jen Meyer had 3 saves for the Tigers. Wittenberg enjoyed the edge in penalty
corners by a 19-6 margin.
