Ohio Wesleyan 100, Kenyon 66

Sophomore forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) had 4 points during a 10-3 run that put the Bishops ahead to stay and junior center Travis Schwab (Medina) scored 6 points during a 13-0 second-half burst that broke open a win over Kenyon in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Lords and Bishops went toe-to-toe for the first 8 minutes, with 8 lead changes and 2 ties in the game.

John Campbell gave Kenyon a 17-16 lead with a 3-pointer from the left corner with 12:07 lef tin the first half, but the Bishops answered with a 3-pointer by senior guard Kyle Comstock (Sunbury/Buckeye Valley) to take the lead for good. Comstock's bucket kicked off a 10-3 run that saw Cole contribute a putback basket and a pair of free throws.

Kenyon came back to within 34-30 on a pair of J.C. Cangilla free throws with 3:19 left in the first half, but Ohio Wesleyan outscored the Lords 11-2 over the next 2-plus minutes and ended the first half with a 47-34 lead.

Ohio Wesleyan broke the game open early in the second half. With the Bishops leading, 55-41, senior guard Jason Dopoulos (Strongsville) drilled a 3-pointer and Schwab scored 6 straight points before sophomore guard Bryan King (Sidney) converted a 4-point play to give the Bishops a 68-41 lead with 12:45 to play.

Schwab led the Bishops with 22 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. King finished with 13 points, Cole had 12 points and led the Bishops with 7 rebounds, freshman guard Nicholas Levine (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill) kicked in 11 points and junior center Charlie Smith (Centerburg) scored 10 points and led the Bishops with 4 assists.

Matt Formato led the Lords with 18 points, Derrick Herman grabbed a game-high 9 rebounds and Aaron Stancik had a team-high 4 assists.
