Earlham 68, Ohio Wesleyan 60

Brandon Miller's jumper at the first-half buzzer broke a 25-25 tie and put Earlham ahead to stay, and the Quakers held on to the lead throughout a precarious second half in defeating Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday in Richmond, Ind.

Earlham jumped to an early 10-2 lead as Sean O'Reilley led the way with a lay-up and a 3-point play, but the Bishops stormed back to tie the game at 12-12 on a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Bryan King (Sidney), 5 points by sophomore forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) and a basket by junior center Charlie Smith (Centerburg).

The rest of the first half was a tightly-played affair, with the biggest lead by either team being 4 points when Earlham took an 18-14 edge only to see Ohio Wesleyan come right back to take the lead with a King 3-pointer and a bucket by junior center Travis Schwab (Medina).

The second half opened with more of the same, with the Quakers building the lead to 6 points and the Bishops coming back to within 2 on a handful of occasions.

Cole hit a lay-in to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 4 points at 58-54 with 2:28 to play, but the Bishops would not score another basket until senior guard Jason Dopoulos (Strongsville) hit a 3-pointer with :13 to play. During that span, Earlham went 6-for-8 from the line and added an O'Reilley lay-in to pad the lead to 10 points.

Cole led the Bishops with 18 points and 8 rebounds. King finished with 12 points and Smith added 11 points. Freshman guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic) led the Bishops with 5 assists.

Markous Jewett led Earlham with 15 points, while O'Reilley and Brady Keaton each added 13 points and Nathan Stoops scored 10 points.
