Junior
center Travis Schwab (Medina) scored twice as the Bishops opened the game
with an 11-0 run and never looked back on the way to a win over MacMurray
in the first round of Adrian College's John Dawson Invitational on Friday
in Adrian, Mich.
Schwab opened the scoring with a jumper less than a minute into the game,
then sophomore forward Brandon Cole (Sidney) and sophomore guard Tyler
Reed (Marysville/Fairbanks) followed with buckets before senior guard
Jason Dopoulos (Strongsville) buried a 3-pointer and Schwab finished the
run with another basket.
The
Highlanders came back to within 26-19 on Isaiah Davis' jumper with 7:20
left in the first half, but senior guard Kyle Comstock (Sunbury/Buckeye
Valley) followed with a 3-pointer and another bucket to end the MacMurray
run.
Schwab led the Bishops with 18 points, while Reed finished with 14 points.
Comstock had 13 points and sophomore guard Bryan King (Sidney) added 11
points and shared the team lead with 4 assists. Cole led the Bishops with
7 rebounds and freshman guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic)
also shared the team lead with 4 assists.
Derek Suttles led MacMurray with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Derek James
and Davis each finished with 13 points.
