Kenyon
69, Ohio Wesleyan 65
Jan.
3, 2003
Lauren Camp sank 2 free throws to put Kenyon ahead to stay
and hit 2 more down the stretch to seal the game as the Ladies defeated
Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Friday in Gambier.
Sophomore wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview), who scored a career-high
38 points in the contest, tied the game at 61-61 with a lay-in with 3:20
to play.
Camp
was fouled and hit both free throws with 2:02 left in regulation time,
and after a Bishop turnover, Eileen Wittman sank a lay-in with 1:40 on
the clock to hike the lead to 65-61.
Heil made a lay-in to bring the Bishops within 65-63 with :56 left, and
after Kenyon's Beth Lye and sophomore
post Erica Brizendine (Grove City) traded baskets, Camp closed out the
scoring with a pair of free throws with :15 remaining.
Heil's 38 points tied for second place on the all-time Bishop single-game
list, matching the figure posted by Arden Kragalott against Baldwin-Wallace
on Feb. 12, 1978. Heil also grabbed 7 rebounds. Brizendine finished with
17 points and led the Bishops with 8 rebounds. Junior guard Krystal Sensabaugh
(Wapakoneta) led the Bishops with 5 assists.
Wittman led the Ladies with 13 points, while Lindsay Madaras and Lye each
scored 12 points and Camp finished with 10 points.
