Ohio Wesleyan 73, Hiram 43

Sophomore wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) scored 12 points during a 19-4 game-opening run that started the Bishops on their way to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Hiram on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Terriers remained within striking distance through most of the first half, climbing back to within 28-16 on 3 Terra Roane baskets.

But Heil had 8 points during a 10-1 run that ended the first half, closing out the scoring with a steal and lay-in that made the halftime score 42-21. The Bishops then put the game away with a 19-2 run to open the second half, with Heil scoring 6 points and sophomore post Erica Brizendine (Grove City) adding 5 during that span.

Heil led the Bishops with 28 points, with 22 coming in the first half. Brizendine finished with 11 points and led the Bishops with 8 rebounds. Senior post Mindy Hammond (Columbus/DeSales) led the Bishops with 7 assists.

Roane led the Terriers with 12 points and had 6 rebounds, while Jessica Harris posted team bests of 7 boards and 3 assists for Hiram. Jamie Hanson also had 3 assists for the Terriers.
