Amherst 10, Ohio Wesleyan 4

Senior designated hitter Tyler Mott (Grove City) and senior third baseman Andy Busch (Westerville/South) drove in runs to give the Bishops a 2-1 lead, but Amherst broke the game open with 3 runs in the sixth and 3 runs in the eighth to take a non-conference decision over Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday in Fort Myers, Fla.

Mott and Busch drove in runs that gave Ohio Wesleyan a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Amherst tied the game in the third on Tom Sullivan's RBI single, then took the lead in the fourth on Paul Whiting's RBI single and added a run in the fifth on Kyle Lavery's RBI ground out. The Lord Jeffs added 3 runs in the sixth, with David Powers' 2-run double the key hit, and tacked on 3 more in the eighth.

Sophomore outfielder Adam Toney (Galloway/Westland) and freshman first baseman Tom Bottichio (Mason) drove in runs in the bottom of the eighth to account for the 10-4 final.

Freshman outfielder Kyle Sherman (Plain City/Dublin Scioto) led the Bishops at the plate, going 4-for-4.

Senior lefthander Mike Grady (North Canton/Hoover) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan. He allowed 5 hits and 3 runs, 1 earned, over the first 4.0 innings.
