Lindsay Evancho scored with 14:18 left in regulation time to give Bellarmine a non-conference decision over Ohio Wesleyan in the Battling Bishops' home opener on Saturday at the Henry Street Field.

The Knights broke the scoreless tie when Becky Preston crossed the ball from the right side over to Evancho, whose shot from the left side found the back of the cage.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened twice in the closing minutes. The Bishops earned a penalty corner with just under 4 minutes to play but did not get a shot on goal. Ohio Wesleyan got another corner as time was running out and called a time out with :11 left. The ball went out to sophomore midfielder Jori Bos (Columbus/Chapel Hill (N.C.), but Bos' hard shot was just outside the left post.

Junior Liz Stone (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional) had 5 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan cage. Bellarmine's Mary Lampe was credited with 7 saves.
