Denison 3, Ohio Wesleyan 0

Jenny Lacey set up the go-ahead goal and scored 2 others as Denison defeated Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday at the Henry Street Field.

The Bishops had the edge in play early but could not translate that into a goal. Ohio Wesleyan had an opportunity to take the lead when Denison keeper Sarah Robator tried to kick the ball away from the Big Red cage but missed and, in the midst of the ensuing scramble, played the ball with her hand, giving Ohio Wesleyan a penalty stroke with 24:33 left in the first half. Senior Jamie Laudenslager (Lindenhurst, Ill./Antioch Community) took the stroke for the Bishops, but her try was off the mark.

Lacey assisted Becca Tavares with 7:21 left in the first half, giving the Big Red a 1-0 lead, and scored an unassisted goal from in front of the Bishop cage with :18 left in the first half. Lacey wrapped up the scoring with an assist from Stephanie Hargis with 30:58 left in regulation time.

Denison outshot the Bishops, 10-6. Junior Liz Stone (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional) had 6 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan cage. Robator finished with 6 saves for Denison.
