Oberlin
1, Ohio Wesleyan 0
Oct. 13, 2003
Meg
Reitz scored with 9:35 left in regulation time to give Oberlin a North
Coast Athletic Conference verdict over Ohio Wesleyan on Monday at the
Henry Street Field.
Oberlin
threatened to score in the game's opening minutes when the Yeowomen received
a penalty corner. Oberlin's Christine Castilla wound up with the ball
in front of the Bishop cage, but her shot was saved by junior Liz Stone
(Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional). The rebound went right back to Castilla,
but her follow shot also was saved by Stone.
The rest of the first half was an evenly-played defensive battle. Ohio
Wesleyan's best chance to score came in the late minutes of the period,
when sophomore attacker Taneen Legree (Christiana, Pa./Octorara) fired
a shot from the left side, but Oberlin defender Sarah Heaton blocked the
shot and was credited with a defensive save.
Reitz put the Yeowomen on the scoreboard with a shot from the left side
through traffic toward the right post.
Oberlin outshot the Bishops, 12-1. Stone finished with 6 saves in the
Ohio Wesleyan cage.
Oberlin goalkeeper Siv Tang did
not make a save in the Yeowomen cage.
