Ohio Wesleyan 3, Wooster 2

Sophomore attacker Taneen Legree (Christiana, Pa./Octorara) scored early in the second half to give Ohio Wesleyan the lead and the Battling Bishops held on to nip first-place Wooster in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday at the Henry Street Field.

The win was Ohio Wesleyan's first in NCAC competition since Oct. 20, 2001, snapping a 20-game losing streak in conference games.

The Bishops took the lead just over a minute into the game when Legree drove down the field and scored.

Wooster came back to tie the game on a rebound goal by Angela Arnold with 26:01 left in the first half and took a 2-1 lead on Lindsay Tingley's goal with 13:51 left in the first half. Julia Tryder was credited with an assist on the go-ahead goal.

Ohio Wesleyan evened the game at 2-2 when junior wing Meredith Bynum (Winston-Salem, N.C./Forsyth Country Day) knocked home a rebound with 10:37 left in the first half.

Less than 5 minutes into the second half, Legree took a pass from sophomore midfielder Jori Bos (Columbus/Chapel Hill (N.C.)) and fired a shot past Wooster keeper Anne Leigh to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay.

Wooster threatened throughout the second half but could not convert the tying goal. The Fighting Scots' best chance came with about 15 minutes left in regulation, when Wooster was awarded a penalty stroke, but Katie McCoy's shot was saved by junior Liz Stone (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional).

Wooster outshot the Bishops, 24-11. Stone finished with 8 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan cage. Leigh had 3 saves in 44 minutes in the Wooster goal and Michelle Digaetano made 1 save in the final 26 minutes of play.
