Sophomore Justin Schroeder (Shelby) set a school record in leading the Bishops to the team title at the Denison Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Granville.

Ohio Wesleyan, which had trailed by one shot after Saturday's first round, totaled a 286 on Sunday to finish at 578 and defeat Denison and Otterbein by 8 shots. Wittenberg finished fourth with a 596, followed by DePauw (598), John Carroll (599), Wooster (601), Baldwin-Wallace (604), Franklin (608), Mount Union (614), Muskingum (621), Anderson (638), Capital (658) and Kenyon (685).

Schroeder fired a second-round 68 and finished with a 140 to take medalist honors. His 140 set an Ohio Wesleyan record for a 36-hole total, beating the record of 141 set by Barry Pry in 1989 and tied by senior Chad Poling (Delaware/Hayes) in 2001. Schroeder is the sixth Bishop golfer to card a 68, one shot behind the school record of 67.

Junior Brandon Bytnar (Monclova/Anthony Wayne) tied for second place with a 143, Poling tied for fourth with a 144, senior Adam Pry (Bucyrus/Shelby) tied for 26th place at 151 and sophomore Doug McCullough (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./St. Edward) completed the Bishop scoring with a 158, good for a tie for 56th place.
