Senior
Chad Poling (Delaware/Hayes) led Ohio Wesleyan at the 16th annual Tom
O'Briant Memorial Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Cardinal Golf
and Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The tournament featured 9 of the
top 20 teams in the Sept. 10 Precept Division III poll.
Methodist won the tournament with a 586, edging second-place Oglethorpe
by 3 shots. Guilford was third with a 591, with Emory in fourth place
at 602 and Duke's "B" team in fifth place at 615. LaGrange finished
in sixth place at 616, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (617), Rhodes (621),
Greensboro (624), Guilford's "B" team (628), Christopher Newport
(632), Randolph-Macon (638), Pfeiffer's "B" team (639), Averett
and Ferrum (647), Bridgewater (650), Wesley (658) and Hampden-Sydney (659).
Poling tied for 16th place among individuals with a 152. Sophomore Justin
Schroeder (Shelby) tied for 27th place at 154, junior Brandon Bytnar (Monclova/Anthony
Wayne) tied for 36th place at 156, sophomore Kevin Alberty (Strongsville/Brunswick)
tied for 47th place with a 159 and senior Adam Pry (Bucyrus/Shelby) finished
in a tie for 51st place with a 160.
