Ohio Wesleyan 72, Hiram 32

Freshman post Ben Chojnacki (Medina) scored 6 points, sophomore wing Andy Warnock (Delaware/Hayes) had 5 points and senior post Travis Schwab (Medina) scored 4 points during an early 17-0 run that broke open a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Hiram on Saturday night at Hiram.

Carlton Dean opened the scoring with a lay-in to give Hiram an early 2-0 lead before Schwab started the Ohio Wesleyan run with consecutive baskets. Chojnacki followed with a lay-in and Warnock hit a 3-pointer and a lay-in to give the Bishops an 11-2 lead. Chojnacki scored twice more, sandwiched around a basket by junior guard Bryan King (Sidney), as the Bishops took a 17-2 lead with 9:34 left in the first half.

Phil Goll sank a free throw with 8:43 left in the first half, ending Hiram's scoreless streak at nearly 10 minutes, but the Terriers did not score another basket until Leonard Wright's lay-in with :02 left in the first half.

The Bishops led, 28-10, at halftime. Hiram was 2-for-29 from the field during the first half.

Ohio Wesleyan pulled away during the second half, leading by as many as 43 points.

Schwab led the Bishops with 17 points. Chojnacki added 14 points and grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds, and King finished with 10 points. Sophomore guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic) had a team-high 5 assists.

A.J. White and Allen Kirkpatrick shared the team lead with 6 points apiece for Hiram. Pool led the Terriers with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
