Ohio Wesleyan 93, Oberlin 54

Sophomore wing Andy Warnock (Delaware/Hayes) scored 6 points and senior post Travis Schwab (Medina) added 5 points as Ohio Wesleyan opened the game with a 15-2 run and went on to defeat Oberlin in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night at Branch Rickey Arena.

Schwab scored twice inside and added a free throw and Warnock drilled a 3-pointer from the right corner as Ohio Wesleyan raced to an 8-0 lead.

Oberlin missed its first 6 shots from the field, finally getting on the scoreboard when Bosko Tomasevic hit a fadeaway from the left baseline with 15:05 left in the first half.

Anthony Richardson hit a 3-pointer and a free throw and Tomasevic connected again from the lane to bring the Yeomen within 17-8, but Ohio Wesleyan answered with a 17-2 run that featured 5 points by Schwab and 4 points apiece by senior post Charlie Smith (Centerburg) and junior wing Tyler Reed (Marysville/Fairbanks). A pair of free throws by junior post Brandon Reid (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) with :56 left in the first half concluded the Bishop streak, which extended Ohio Wesleyan's lead to 34-10.

The Bishops took a 37-15 halftime lead and pulled away during the second half, outscoring the Yeomen 11-2 during one stretch midway through the period.

Schwab led the Bishops with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Chojnacki added 15 points, Warnock scored 11 points and Smith finished with 10 points. Sophomore guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic) had a team-high 5 assists.

Tomasevic and Richardson shared the team lead with 15 points apiece for Oberlin, with Richardson dishing out a team-leading 2 assists. Alex Malone added 11 points. Chris Ikpoh led the Yeomen with 8 rebounds.
