Eastern Kentucky 106, Ohio Wesleyan 52

Charles Slaughter scored 8 points as Eastern Kentucky broke open the game with a 21-2 run and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Tuesday in Richmond, Ky.

Eastern Kentucky's Mamadou Diakhate and Ohio Wesleyan junior guard Tyler Reed (Marysville/Fairbanks) opened the scoring by trading 3-pointers, and freshman wing Ted Uritus (Columbus/Watterson), freshman post Ben Chojnacki (Medina) and sophomore guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic) followed with 3-pointers as the Bishops kept close, trailing by a score of 15-12 with 14:25 left in the first half.

Matt Witt followed with a 3-pointer for the Colonels, starting off a 21-2 burst that boosted the lead to 36-14 with 6:13 left in the half. Eastern Kentucky went on to take a 53-23 lead at halftime, and continued to build the lead to the final margin.

Rybarczyk led the Bishops with 11 points and sophomore wing Andy Warnock (Delaware/Hayes) added 10 points. Warnock, Rybarczyk, freshman post Jeff Hager (Loveland/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) and junior post Brandon Reid (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) shared the team lead with 3 rebounds apiece. Reed and Rybarczyk paced the Bishops with 4 assists apiece.

Slaughter and Michael Brock scored 15 points apiece to lead a total of 6 Colonels in double figures. Diakhate and Witt each added 12 points and Michael Haney and Julian Mascoll had 10 points apiece. Mascoll and Jon Bentley led Eastern Kentucky with 6 rebounds apiece, and Witt had a team-high 8 assists.
