Wooster 81, Ohio Wesleyan 55

Kyle Witucky hit a pair of 3-pointers to put Wooster ahead to stay and added another pair of 3-pointers during a 10-0 run to open the second half as Wooster defeated Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Wooster.

Ohio Wesleyan led, 9-6, on a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic) with 15:58 left in the first half before Wooster took the lead for good with back-to-back 3-pointers by Witucky. The Fighting Scots stretched the lead to 10 points, taking a 27-17 lead on a pair of free throws by Jeff Stevens with 8:14 left in the first half.

Junior guard Bryan King (Sidney), Rybarczyk and junior wing Tyler Reed (Marysville/Fairbanks) hit 3-pointers to help bring the Bishops back to within 31-28 with 5:02 left in the first half, but Wooster scored the next 7 points on a Rodney Mitchell jumper, a 3-pointer by Tom Port and a pair of free throws by Blake Mealer to bump the lead back to 10 points at 38-28.

Leading, 42-32, at halftime, the Fighting Scots opened the second half with a Matt Schlingman basket, Witucky's two 3-pointers and a Port basket to extend the lead to 52-32 with 16:20 left in regulation time.

Senior post Travis Schwab (Medina) led the Bishops with 21 points and 4 assists. Rybarczyk finished with 10 points. Schwab, sophomore wing Andy Warnock (Delaware/Hayes) and senior post Charlie Smith (Centerburg) shared the team lead with 4 rebounds apiece.

Witucky, who went 6-for-6 from 3-point range, finished with 20 points to lead Wooster. Port and Schlingman added 10 points apiece. Witucky and Mealer led Wooster with 6 rebounds apiece and Port had a team-high 5 assists.
