7th of 9 at NCAC Relays

Sophomore Alan Rill (Dublin/Hilliard Davidson) and freshman Jacob Priest (Columbus/Walnut Ridge) combined to win 2 events to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays meet hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Wooster.

The annual lidlifter of the swimming season, the meet consists entirely of relay events and is scored similarly to the conference championship meet. Denison won the meet with 160 points to 156 for runner-up Kenyon. Wittenberg was third with 110 points and Wabash placed fourth with 96 points. Hiram (86), Allegheny (84), Ohio Wesleyan (58), Oberlin (56) and Wooster (52) completed the team scores.

Rill and Priest combined to win the 1-meter diving with a score of 374.85 and the 3-meter diving with a score of 282.95.

Junior Shannon Beis (Columbus/Upper Arlington), senior Ed Burwell (Columbus), senior David Holder (New Philadelphia) and junior Joe Woyma (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) turned in the Bishops' highest finish by a relay team, combining to finish 11th in the 200 breaststroke relay in 2:08.62.

Holder, Beis, senior Brian Sung (Torrance, Calif./Peninsula) and Woyma combined to finish 16th in the 400 IM relay and 17th in the 200 medley relay, while the 200 backstroke relay of Beis, Burwell, Sung and Woyma also finished 17th. The 200 butterfly relay of Joe Woyma, Burwell, junior Matt Woyma (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) and Beis also finished 17th.
