7th of 10 at GLCA championship

Freshman Kevin Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) led the Bishops at the Great Lakes Colleges Association championship meet, held at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind.

Albion won the meet with 27 points to 70 for runner-up DePauw. Kenyon was third with 123 points, followed by Wooster (123), Wabash (134), Denison (153), Ohio Wesleyan (156), Kalamazoo (199), Earlham (239) and Oberlin (253). The narrow seventh-place finish was the Bishops' best GLCA showing since 1998, when Ohio Wesleyan also finished seventh in a 10-team field.

Goehring finished in 21st place in a time of 28:03. Freshman Doug Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) placed 24th in 28:14, freshman Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) followed in 26th place in 28:17, junior Bill Bedford (Strongsville/Strongsville) finished 41st in 29:10 and senior Michael Clinton (Troy, Mich.) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 52nd-place finish in 29:39.

Freshman Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.) was 59th in 29:49 and freshman Seth Moore (Xenia/Yellow Springs) was 61st in 29:56.
