3rd of 14 at Marietta Invitational

Freshman Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) led the Bishops at the Carl L. Broughton Invitational meet, hosted by Marietta College at the Broughton Nature Area in Marietta, Ohio.

Otterbein won the meet with 23 points to 40 for second-place Alderson Braddus and 86 for third-place Ohio Wesleyan. Muskingum was fourth with 115 points, followed by Marietta (158), Davis & Elkins (202), Fairmont State (231), West Liberty State (242), Bethany (256), Seton Hill (276), Ohio Valley (276), Capital (297), Kentucky Christian (307) and Glenville State (359).

Kempton finished seventh, covering the 8-kilometer course in 28:35.75. Freshman Kevin Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) placed 13th in 28:55.90, freshman Doug Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) was 19th in 29:29.40, senior Michael Clinton (Troy, Mich.) finished 30th in 30:12.50 and freshman Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 35th-place finish in 30:37.78.

Freshman Seth Moore (Xenia/Yellow Springs) was 37th in 31:01.93 and junior Josh Warner (Fremont/Ross) was 41st in 31:26.96.
