4th of 8 at Wooster Invitational

Freshman Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) led the Bishops at the Wooster Invitational meet on Saturday in Wooster.

Ashland won the meet with 19 points to 57 for second-place Wooster. Denison was third with 79 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (102), Oberlin (145), Hiram (167), Case Reserve (198) and Lake Erie (265).

Kempton finished 10th among individuals, covering the 8-kilometer course in 28:00. Sophomore Keith Drake (Norwich, Vt./Hanover (N.H.)) was 21st in 29:01, freshman Doug Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) finished 23rd in 29:08, senior Michael Clinton (Troy, Mich.) placed 30th in 29:42 and freshman Kevin Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 37th-place finish in 30:05.

Freshman Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.) was 41st in 30:29 and junior Josh Warner (Fremont/Ross) placed 42nd in 30:31.
