T9th of 13 at Ohio Northern Invitational

Freshman Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) led the Bishops at the Polar Bear Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern on Saturday at Hawthorne Hills Country Club in Lima.

Albion won the meet with 38 points to 49 for runner-up Mount Union. Cedarville was third with 84 points, followed by Ohio Northern (125), Denison (161), Kenyon (167), Heidelberg (220), Oberlin (229), Ohio Wesleyan and Olivet (238), Wooster (281), Mount St. Joseph (364) and Wittenberg (366).

Kempton finished 34th among individuals, covering the 8-kilometer course in 27:03.66. Freshman Doug Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) was 43rd in 27:16.63, sophomore Keith Drake (Norwich, Vt./Hanover (N.H.)) finished 47th in 27:29.71, senior Michael Clinton (Troy, Mich.) placed 66th in 28:02.13 and junior Bill Bedford (Strongsville) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 73rd-place finish in 28:14.24.

Freshman Seth Moore (Xenia/Yellow Springs) placed 88th in 28:38.50 and junior Josh Warner (Fremont/Ross) was 105th in 29:19.54.
