7th of 10 at NCAC championship

Freshman Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in leading the Bishops at the NCAC championship meet on Saturday at the Wooster Country Club.

Kenyon won the meet with 52 points to 56 for runner-up Allegheny and 58 for third-place Wooster. Oberlin finished fourth with 138 points, followed by Denison (149), Wabash (152), Ohio Wesleyan (153), Earlham (158), Hiram (244) and Wittenberg (287).

Kempton finished 21st among individuals, covering the 8-kilometer course in 28:12. Sophomore Keith Drake (Norwich, Vt./Hanover (N.H.)) was 22nd in 28:18, freshman Doug Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) finished 24th in 28:23, junior Bill Bedford (Strongsville) placed 42nd in 29:03 and senior Michael Clinton (Troy, Mich.) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 44th-place finish in 29:12.

Freshman Seth Moore (Xenia/Yellow Springs) placed 51st in 29:32 and freshman Kevin Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) was 56th in 30:05.
