Sophomore guard Amanda Nanney (Cincinnati/Mother
of Mercy) scored 5 points during a 10-0 run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead

Rickey Arena.
The first 12-plus minutes of the game featured 6 lead changes and 5 ties.
Earlham wiped out an 18-12 deficit on a pair of baskets by Summer Cress
and a jumper by Melanie Behler, tying the game at 18-18 with 7:40 left

Junior post Erica Brizendine (Grove City) then put Ohio Wesleyan ahead
to stay with a fast break lay-in, then Nanney drilled a 3-pointer and
a 15-foot jumper in rapid succession. Junior wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview)
added a lay-in and Brizendine followed with a free throw to increase the
Ohio Wesleyan lead to 28-18 with 2:31 left in the half.
Lauren Herman finally ended the Quaker drought with a jumper with 2:20

got the final bucket of the period, with senior post Kristin Thompson
(Logan) hitting a baseline jumper with :02 showing, to take a 30-20 lead
into the locker room.
Heil took over for the Bishops early in the second half, hitting 2 free
throws, converting a 3-point play and then scoring on a fast break to
highlight an 11-2 Ohio Wesleyan burst to open the half.
After Cassie Byrd scored on a fast break for the Quakers, the Bishops
iced the game with a 15-2 run that saw Ohio Wesleyan hold Earlham scoreless
from the field for over 7 minutes.
Heil led the Bishops with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman post Tifini
Ray (Hilliard/Davidson) added 10 points and shared the team lead with
2 assists, along with senior
guard Krystal Sensabaugh (Wapakoneta) and sophomore guard Jenny Johnson
(Delaware/Hayes).
