Brooke Warner scored twice during a 6-0 burst that broke a 45-45 tie and put Thomas More ahead to stay and the Saints went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Wednesday in Crestview Hills, Ky.

The Bishops zoomed out to an 8-0 lead on a pair of 3-pointers by junior wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) and a lay-in by junior post Erica Brizendine (Grove City).

Ohio Wesleyan still led by 8 points at 26-18 on Brizendine's jumper with 5:09 left in the first half, and the Bishops held a 31-24 lead when sophomore guard Amanda Nanney (Cincinnati/Mother of Mercy) hit a pair of free throws with 1:36 left in the first half.

Joanna Bess answered with a pair of free throws for Thomas More, and after a Bishop miss, Allison Byars hit a 3-pointer with 1:09 to play. Byars followed with a pair of free throws with :41 left to tie the game at 31-31.

Junior post Liz Newell (Delaware/Hayes) scored to give the Bishops a 33-31 lead with :21 left, but Byars hit a jumper at the buzzer to tie the game, 33-33, at halftime.

Nanney buried a 3-pointer to tie the game at 45-45 with 12:19 left in regulation time.

Warner scored to put the Saints ahead to stay, then followed with a jumper on Thomas More's next possession. After a Bishop turnover, Jodi Schroeder hit a jumper to give the Saints a 51-45 lead with 10:08 left to play.

Ohio Wesleyan sliced the deficit to 4 points on a pair of occasions, both on lay-ins by Brizendine, but the Bishops were not able to score twice in a row during the remainder of the game.

Heil led the Bishops with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Brizendine finished with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Senior guard Krystal Sensabaugh (Wapakoneta) led the Bishops with 4 assists.

Sensabaugh's 4 assists increased her career total to 240, moving her into seventh place on the Ohio Wesleyan list ahead of Angie Mouch, who compiled 238 assists during the 1989-93 seasons.

Carrie Clift led the Saints with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Byars finished with 13 points, Bess had 11 points and Megan Wood contributed 10 points. Warner led Thomas More with 5 assists.
