Marymount 49, Ohio Wesleyan 39

Junior guard Celina Dopoulos (Strongsville) scored 5 points during an early 13-2 run that gave the Bishops the lead, but Marymount came back to lead at halftime and pulled away in the second half to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in a semifinal game of the Marymount Tip-Off Classic on Saturday in Arlington, Va.

Ohio Wesleyan will play Gettysburg for third place on Sunday afternoon, while Marymount will square off against St. Lawrence in Sunday's championship game.

Marymount opened the scoring with a Randi Jones jumper with 17:18 left in the first half, but the Bishops answered with back-to-back scores by Dopoulos and junior wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) before Dopoulos drilled a 3-pointer to give the Bishops a 7-2 lead.

Annetta Benjamin brought Marymount within 7-4 with a lay-in, but Ohio Wesleyan came back with a 3-pointer by senior guard Krystal Sensabaugh (Wapakoneta), a lay-in by sophomore guard Jenny Johnson (Delaware/Hayes) and a free throw from senior post Kristin Thompson (Logan) to take a 13-4 lead with 10:24 left in the first half.

The Bishops still led, 19-12, on a pair of free throws by freshman post Tifini Ray (Hilliard/Davidson) with 3:17 left in the first half before Marymount came back and eventually took the lead on consecutive 3-pointers by Tricia Murphy and Ashlee Courter.

Marymount led, 25-21, at halftime and was holding on to a 33-31 lead with 11:38 left in regulation time when the Saints got baskets from Courter, Kacee Grogan and Katie Jarvis before a Jarvis free throw boosted the lead to 40-31 with 8:09 to play.

Ohio Wesleyan sliced the deficit to 6 points on Heil's 3-pointer, but that was as close as the Bishops would come.

Dopoulos led the Bishops with 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Sensabaugh had a team-high 3 assists. Ohio Wesleyan shot 14 percent (4 of 29) from the field during the second half.

Courter and Jarvis led Marymount with 11 points apiece. Benjamin had a team-high 11 rebounds and Courter and Randi Jones had 3 assists apiece.
