Junior outfielder Adam Toney (Galloway/Westland) slammed a 2-run homer to stake Ohio Wesleyan to a first-inning lead, but Ohio University scored in each of the first 6 innings to take a non-conference decision in Wednesday in Athens.

Junior shortstop Brandon Williams (Dublin/Coffman) lined a one-out single and Toney followed with a blast to left center to give the Bishops a 2-0 lead off Bobcat starter Luke Howard.

Ohio University answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the first, with Anthony Gressick and Ben Crabtree knocking in runs, and the Bobcats added a run in the second on Phil Sabatini's RBI triple.

The Bobcats tacked on 2 more in the third, with Brian White's RBI double the big hit, and added another in the fourth on Crabtree's RBI single. Ohio University scored 3 runs in the fifth and broke the game open with 7 runs in the sixth frame.

Ohio Wesleyan scored in the eighth on an RBI single by freshman second baseman Jerrell Johnson (Shaker Heights) and scored twice in the ninth as Johnson and freshman second baseman Donnie Paul (Lewis Center/Olentangy) knocked in runs.

Junior lefthander Josh Nice (Hinckley/Highland) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan. He worked the first 5.0 innings, allowing 8 hits, and struck out 3.

Brian Colopy drove in 3 runs to highlight the Bobcat offense. Howard was credited with the mound decision.
