Ohio Wesleyan 3, Earlham 2

Senior defender Tara Greenwood (Phoenix, Ariz./Stoneleigh Burnham (Mass.)) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on a second-half penalty stroke and Ohio Wesleyan went on to defeat Earlham in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Friday in Richmond, Ind.

The Bishops jumped to a 1-0 lead just 4:21 into the game when sophomore attacker Abbey Kelley (West Bloomfield, Mich./Mercy) scored an unassisted goal.

Earlham pulled even midway through the first half when Mareike Stanitze scored off a feed from Galen McLean.

Ohio Wesleyan took the lead for good just over 5 minutes into the second half when junior attacker Taneen Legree (Christiana, Pa./Octorara) scored off an assist from junior defender Shelley Fisher (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase).

Just over 2 minutes later, Greenwood converted a penalty stroke to hike the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 3-1.

Earlham closed to within 3-2 on Kailynn Kitaji's goal with 17:35 left in regulation time, but the Quakers could not push across the tying goal.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Earlham, 10-8. Freshman Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) had 6 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan cage. Anna Benfield was credited with 7 saves for Earlham.
