Junior
Justin Schroeder (Shelby) led the Bishops at the Jekyll Island Collegiate
Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe University on Friday, Saturday and
Sunday at Jekyll Island, Ga.
Oglethorpe won the tournament with a 5-over-par 869, defeating runner-up
Methodist by 9 shots. Greensboro was third with a 893, followed by Emory
(897), Washington & Lee and Illinois Wesleyan (899), Otterbein (902),
Huntingdon (905), and LaGrange (906). Skidmore rounded out the top 10
with a 909, followed by Randolph-Macon (910), Chowan (933), St. John Fisher
(937), McDaniel and Christopher Newport (938), Denison (942), Piedmont
(945), Hampden-Sydney (953) and Ohio Wesleyan (954). St. Lawrence was
20th with a 972, followed by Washington & Jefferson (974), Roanoke
(980), Averett (982) and University of the South (990).
Schroeder finished in a tie for 33rd place among individuals with a 228,
shooting rounds of 78, 75 and 75. Freshman Jeff Tynik (Glen Rock, N.J./Don
Bosco) tied for 78th place at 238, freshman Rory Hotaling (Yellow Springs)
tied for 84th place with a 241, junior Doug McCullough (Sleepy Hollow,
Ill./St. Edward) finished in a tie for 105th place with a 248, and junior
Gerard Duffy (Charlotte,
N.C./Canterbury (Conn.) School) finished 116th at 252.
